Help & support

How can we help?

Quick answers to the things people ask most. If yours isn't here, write to us and a real person will reply.

Alarms

Will my alarm ring on silent or in a Focus?

Yes. Slowdawn uses Apple's alarm system, the same one the Clock app uses, so alarms ring on silent, in a Focus, and when the app is closed. They also show on a paired Apple Watch. The one thing it needs is permission: if the home screen says alarms aren't allowed, tap Allow alarms, or turn them on in Settings › Slowdawn.

Why is my alarm at this time?

Every alarm has its reason written under it, like "Workdays · day 4 of 12 toward 7:00". Tap any day in the week strip to see exactly how its time was worked out: the plan step, any clock change, sunrise limits and so on.

Do I need to open the app every day?

No. Slowdawn keeps about two weeks of alarms set ahead, and refreshes them in the background. If you haven't opened it for a long while and they're running low, it sends a gentle reminder before they run out.

How do I change or skip just one morning?

Tap the day on the home screen, then Change just this day or Skip this day. From the Lock Screen or Control Center you can also use Skip tomorrow and Sleep in +30, or ask Siri ("Skip tomorrow's alarm in Slowdawn").

Can I set the alarm volume?

Apple's alarm system plays at your iPhone's volume and doesn't let apps change it. So the gentleness lives in the sounds themselves: the softest ones swell in over a full minute. Choose one in Settings › Alarms & sound.

Plans and schedules

How fast does a plan move?

You choose Gentle, Steady or Quick when you set up, and you can change it any time. Steps are smaller when you're moving earlier, because that's the harder direction for most body clocks. Going from 8:00 to 7:00 at 5 minutes a day takes 12 days.

What happens on weekends?

Weekends can follow their own time, or the sunrise, and they move in step with your workday plan so Monday never jumps. Public holidays can be treated like weekends, like workdays, or asked about each time.

What happens when the clocks change?

Slowdawn knows the next change from your iPhone's time zone and, by default, spreads the hour across the week around it. When it's close, a card on the home screen shows the plan. Choose Just jump with the clocks if you'd rather not ease in, or change the timing in Settings › Clock changes.

What's the difference between sunrise and first light?

Sunrise is when the sun clears the horizon. First light is when the sky starts to brighten, about 30 minutes before. Either way, you set an earliest and latest time, so dark winter mornings never leave you sleeping in.

Does it work when I travel?

Yes. Add a trip and Slowdawn can shift you a little each day before you fly, so you land closer to local time. While you're away, keep your usual time on local time, move it, or choose a time just for the trip.

Free trial and Pro

How does the free trial work?

Every new install gets 14 days of everything. The trial ends on its own and never turns into a charge. After it, Slowdawn keeps working for free, and Pro unlocks the rest. See what's in each on the pricing section.

How do I restore a purchase on a new iPhone?

Open Slowdawn, tap the gear for Settings, then Restore purchases. Use the same Apple Account you bought Pro with.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Slowdawn. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.

How do I ask for a refund?

Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase.

Privacy

Does Slowdawn collect any of my data?

No. There's no account and no server. Your plans, location, calendar and sleep stay on your iPhone. The privacy policy has the details.
